Microsoft introduced more than 40 AI models in Windows Copilot Runtime on Monday. Nadella on Tuesday compared Windows Copilot Runtime to blockbuster Windows API Win32 because it makes it easier for developers to use AI to build their own Windows App.

Azure AI will be the first to use Nvidia Blackwell AI chip in combination with GPT-4o Azure.

Nadella then mentions the AI infrastructure. Microsoft, which has "the most comprehensive artificial intelligence infrastructure in the world", is expected to achieve 100 per cent of its data centres powered by renewable energy by 2025, he said, and the number of countries where Microsoft's cloud computing Azure AI services have tripled.

Microsoft will be one of the first cloud service providers to provide Nvidia's latest Blackwell AI chips and has established a "deep partnership" with Nvidia, he said.

Today, more than 50, 000 organizations use Azure AI, according to Nadella. With Azure AI, Microsoft offers the broadest choice of cutting-edge and open source models, including large language models (LLM) and small language models (SLM).

GPT-4o, the flagship model released by OpenAI last week, will soon be able to add Copilot, Microsoft said on Monday. Microsoft announced on Tuesday that GPT-4o, a multimodal model that integrates text, image and audio processing, is now available in Azure AI Studio as well as API.

Nadella mentioned at the developer conference that GPT-4o had been integrated into Azure AI, calling OpenAI's GPT-4o demonstration last week "amazing" and that OpenAI was Microsoft's "most strategic and important partner."

At the same time, the AI SLM Phi-3 series developed by Microsoft has also released a new multimodal model Phi-3-vision, which can be used in Azure. According to Microsoft, the Phi-3 model is powerful, affordable, and optimized for personal devices. Phi-3-vision can enter images and text and receive text replies. For example, users can ask questions about diagrams or open-ended questions about specific images.

Microsoft announced the launch of Team Copilot, the latest extension of its Copilot family of generative AI technology.
